This Paperblanks cover takes inspiration from a 17th-century bookbinder, Le Gascon, paying homage to the original embossed red Moroccan Leather cover with Le Gascon’s emblematic ridge carvings. Whilst the original design was never confirmed as one of Le Gascon’s original designs, if designed by another French bookbinder, they were certainly inspired by the master himself. The midi size journal is perfect for slipping into a travelling bag.

Le Gascon was known for the sophistication and intricacy of his bindings, carving ridges into the leather to emanate his own personal style, and his influence on bookbinding history is still felt to this day.
