Tokyo was chosen as the host for the 2020 Olympics. Mr. Kazutaka Taniguchi of Heiwa Paper Co., Ltd produced a unique and new color paper on this occasion. He would like to express 5 tonal gradations of the 5 colored rings from the Olympic emblem using paper color. He tried the color test by the prototype. “The best color was ‘Black,’ I saw potential in the Grayscale,” he said. He pursued interests in the Grayscale expression. After 6 months of development, he announced the launch of “Tone F” in 2017. Tone F is a series of papers covering 14 shades of gray ranging from “cool gray” to “warm gray.” In 2019, 4 shades were added.
